Mother Wilhelmena Phillips

Mother Wilhelmena Phillips, 82, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012 in her home, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, coming to Elyria 56 years ago.

Mother Phillips was a graduate of Brewer High School in Greenwood, South Carolina, and was employed as a Ward Aide for the Elyria Memorial Hospital, retiring after 25 years of faithful service.

A faithful member of Original Glorious Apostolic Church (O.G.A.C.), she was a Mother of the church, a member of the Missionary Department, member of the Missionary Choir, and enjoyed being a part of the Outreach and Tract Ministry. Mother Phillips also adopted a family in India, along with receiving an Honorary Mother and Missionary Award in 2005.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, John W. Phillips of Elyria; daughters, Linda (Philip) Bush and Venita Gilchrist of Elyria, Bernadette (Lavon) Jackson of Lorain; son, Herman (Betty) Phillips of Elyria; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Bonds of Greenwood, South Carolina, Alice Thomas of Ninety Six, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Sue Phillips of Greenwood; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Victor Barry Phillips; parents, Beatrice and Joseph Lites; sisters, Annie Watson and Lela Mae Payne.

Friends may call Monday, November, 26, 2012, from 10 A.M., until time of service at 11 A.M., at the Original Glorious Apostolic Church, 995 Foster Avenue Elyria, 44035, where Evangelist Doris E. Williams, Pastor, will co-officiate services and Pastor Diana Lindsey of Faith Ministries Christian Center of Lorain, will be the Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
