Saturday, Nov. 24

4:54 p.m. — Police Department, 18 West Ave., resident of the 100 block of Elizabeth St. said a woman who visited his home the night before returned in the morning and said she thought she may have left her cell phone battery charger at his home. He got her a drink from the kitchen and then she left. He then realized his semiautomatic pistol was missing from the bedroom and he has been unable to reach her since.

Sunday, Nov. 25

12:08 a.m. — 1100 Melvyn Lane, resident said apartment burglarized with entry through back door and back door window broken. Blu-ray player, camera, camcorder, computer and television reported stolen.

10:15 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., a 16-year-old boy told police he was assaulted by a group of six juveniles he did not recognize and later three more wearing masks as he was walking on the corner of Middle Avenue and 16th Street. The boy said a relative that lived in the area chased the teenagers that were attacking him away. He told police he did not know his attackers or know why they would kick and punch him.

Monday, Nov. 26

5:12 a.m. — 200 block E. Broad St., a witness reported seeing two men break into Vandemark Jewelers using a 2-foot by 2-foot piece of wood to break out a window of the business. The men were wearing a black sweatshirt and a gray sweatshirt. Police said blood was found on the windows, and the store owner reported nothing appeared to be missing except jewelry boxes from a drawer near the window.

Friday, Nov. 23

2:42 a.m. — East Avenue near Alabama Avenue, Catalina Castro, 27, 3500 block Pin Oak Drive, Lorain, arrested and charged with drunken driving. Police said Castro was speeding and when stopped she admitted to drinking two shots. They said she appeared drunk and refused to take a Breathalyzer test, triggering an automatic one-year driver’s license suspension.

4:45 a.m. — 300 block Freshwater Drive, resident said unlocked car parked in driveway broken into and stereo stolen.

5:09 a.m. — 4500 block Blush Court, resident said truck broken into by a man seen trying to open car doors in the area. A briefcase, calculator, computer and GPS were stolen.

6:40 a.m. — 1800 block Revere Place, resident said unlocked car parked in his driveway overnight had GPS stolen from glove compartment.

8:45 a.m. — 300 block W. Seventh St., Theotis Orr, 46, homeless, arrested and charged with trespassing. Police said they found Orr on Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority property where is barred from being.

3:16 p.m. — 700 block Tower Blvd., Gilbert Pequero, 51, homeless, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Police said they found Pequero lying on the ground and he was too drunk to stand up.

6:30 p.m. — Police Department, 200 W. Erie Ave., woman who is moving from her home said she either lost, or someone stole her semiautomatic pistol. She said it may have been stolen from her unlocked car or she accidentally threw it out while packing belongings.

6:57 p.m. — 2600 block W. Erie Ave., resident said man and woman came to her door and confronted her regarding a note she put on the woman’s car asking her not to park in a handicapped space in her apartment complex because the woman’s car had no handicapped placard. She said the man screamed at her, grabbed her by the shirt and kicked her door damaging the lock when she tried to close it and call police.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

2:11 p.m. — 5300 block of Sailorway Drive, a Sailorway Middle School student was suspended after he pushed over a tripod, used for surveying, which was across the street. Police said it was unknown how much damage was caused.

Friday, Nov. 16

1:51 p.m. — 4600 block of Liberty Ave., Gregory King arrested and charged with being impaired while having physical control of a motor vehicle. Police said King was inside his vehicle, waiting at a drive-through window.

Saturday, Nov. 17

1:41 a.m. — 300 block of Woodridge Road, a juvenile charged with unruly juvenile and drug abuse. Police said she was released back to her mother.

4:20 p.m. — 1100 block of Sanford St., reported theft of 10 rings from a jewelry box in a home. Police said there were no suspects or evidence at the time of the report.

9:53 p.m. — 5100 block of Liberty Ave., driver arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after police said he nearly struck another vehicle, no name given.

Sunday, Nov. 18

8:54 p.m. — 4800 block of Liberty Ave., Kevin M. Jones, 37, of Vermilion, arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (second offense), state refusal and resisting arrest. Police said Jones had hit a curb and his vehicle was disabled in the parking lot of Speedway Gas Station. Police said Jones failed a field sobriety test and then struggled with officers while he was placed under arrest. Police said Jones had to be Tasered during the struggle.

Monday, Nov. 19

9:46 a.m. — 1100 block of Sweetbriar Drive, a man reported that someone slashed the front tires of his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway.

4:20 p.m. — 2100 block of Brownhelm St., Richard J. Phelps, Richard D. Phelps and Joseph E. Simmons Jr., arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. Police were sent to the area after a caller reported hearing shots in the woods. Police said the three men got into a vehicle that was parked by a no trespassing sign. Richard D. Phelps told police they were walking down to the creek to see where the steelhead trout were running. Police issued the men a summons because they didn’t have permission to be on the property.

5:12 p.m. — 500 block of McIntosh Lane, reported theft of a mailbox from the front of a home.

Thursday, Nov. 22

5:35 p.m. — 500 block of Cherry Valley Drive, Michael E. Windom arrested and charged with felony domestic violence.
