Dr. John Joseph Stifter III

Dr. John Joseph Stifter III, 90, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Florida. John was born March 31, 1922 to John Joseph Stifter II and Francis Dorothy (Vrana).He graduated from Lincoln High School, Cleveland; Baldwin-Wallace College; Western Reserve University (Dentistry); and The Ohio State University (Orthodontics). He served his country both in the United States Naval Air Corps (Lieutenant) and the United States Army (Major).

John retired from his orthodontic practice in Avon Lake in 1991 and moved with his wife to Amelia Island, Florida, where he was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lee Bolling Stifter; brother-in-law, Ed Caldwell; daughter, Deborah Lee Sirica (Michael); son, John Joseph Stifter IV (Mercedes); daughter, Mara Elizabeth Evans (Jeremy); five grandchildren, Kate, Elizabeth, Jonah, John V, Caroline and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Viewings will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. and 5 to 8 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7 P.M. at Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, (330) 483-3300. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, with Fr. John Vrana, Celebrant. Committal will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery on Myrtle Hill Road (just East of Columbia Road) and a luncheon in his honor will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
