At around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police were sent to the 1900 block of West 11th Street for a reported burglary in progress.
According to Robert Reinhart, who lives next door to his daughter, he heard a noise in his daughter’s backyard and went to investigate when he saw a white male wearing a dark color jacket near the back door of the home.
He told police when he confronted the burglar, the man fled southbound on King Avenue.
Officers found a man matching the description of the suspect behind Lakeview School. Officers approached the man, but he fled, according to a police report.
The suspect, later identified as Brian White, 25, ran into the woods south of Arrowhead Drive, according to the report. Officers pursued White, capturing him in a thick brush area of the woods.
Police said White had a Canon Digital Powershot camera, in his possession, as well as a cigarette pack containing a crack pipe, testing positive for cocaine. White also had two hypodermic needles, gloves and a multi-tool, said police.
Reinhart identified White as the man who had broken into his daughter’s home.
White was arrested and charged with burglary, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, possession of criminal tools, possession of cocaine, drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
Police said White has a history of drug abuse with cocaine and heroin.
