Karen A. Gulliksen

Karen A. Gulliksen (Loescher) passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1939 in Elyria, to Harold and Sabina Loescher.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her granddaughter, Abby Elizabeth Mohon.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Edward; her daughters, Lorain (Donovan) Wauters, Dana (Brian) Bottemiller, and Magan Sager and her fiance, Chad Waltari. Always surrounded by children, Karen doted on her five granddaughters, Amanda (Dezzy), Abby, Echo, Paige, Tyler, her grandson, Nick, and her future step grandsons, Michael, Bailey, and Nathan. She was also very blessed to get to meet her first great grandson, Linkin. Karen is also survived by her brothers, Ed (Shirley) Loescher, Don (Carol) Loescher, and sisters, Edith (Robert) Schaffer, Sally Burgett, and Norma Uehlein; and numerous nieces and nephews. The list of close friends who Karen would refer to as her family is long and she held a place in her heart for each person.

Karen had a generous heart that will truly be missed. She was a foster parent for many years helping care for children from all walks of life and fought hard to make sure they were cared for even after they left her home. Karen also was very involved in the American Legion Post 7 serving on the Auxiliary in many different capacities. She was proud to support those who served our country including her husband and granddaughter, Amanda. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, camping, and traveling – especially to the local casino’s and on Legion boat trips.

Service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1 P.M. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Open House/Reception will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2 P.M. at the American Legion Post #7.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Legion Auxiliary Post #7.
