Roy H. “Sonny” Canterbury, 68, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. Roy was born July 25, 1944 in Corton, West Virginia, to Lloyd and Parma (nee Parker) Canterbury.
He attended Brookside High School. Roy began working for the Nordson Corporation in 1968, as a material handler, retiring in 2006, after 38 years of service. After retiring, he worked part time at Mullinax Ford. For many years, he escorted funerals, a service he really enjoyed providing.
He loved hot rods and really enjoyed watching all the car shows on television. Old time rock and roll, especially Doo-Wop, was his favorite music to listen to.
Roy is survived by his wife of 18 years, Renate (nee Olbryschewski) Canterbury; sons, James Canterbury, of Utah and Shawn (Sarah) Canterbury, Of Carlisle Township; stepsons, Thomas (Nicole) Starr, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Raymond (Kristine) Starr, of Lorain; grandchildren, Sebastian Canterbury, stationed in Korea with the United States Air Force, Tyler Canterbury, of Carlisle Township; stepgrandson, Mason Starr, of Lorain; step granddaughters, Erin Starr and Erica Uhse, both of Corpus Christ, Texas.
Private funeral services were held.
