The 52-year-old woman said she was awakened Sunday in her Delaware Circle home to see a man she knew as “Duck” brandishing a handgun with a silencer on it.
According to an Elyria police report, he ordered her to give him all her money, and she handed over $320 and dumped out her purse, looking for more.
Late Monday night, police arrested Donald Daniels, 22, near the Elyria EconoLodge on a warrant for the incident.
Police found a group of people, including Daniels, in the hotel parking lot about 11:30 p.m. Monday, a police report said.
According to the report, Daniels saw officers and said “(Expletive) you’ve got me. I’m the one you’ve been looking for all day.”
Daniels was booked on the warrant for aggravated robbery, as well as warrants for intimidation, assured clear distance and leaving the scene.
The robbery victim told police a 19-year-old woman who lives with her had brought Daniels home for the night when the incident occurred. The 19-year-old told police she had “only been hanging out with him on a sexual relationship basis,” the report said.
She said that on Sunday night, he came home with her and they went to bed, but she told him she had to go to sleep so she could work in the morning.
She told police that she went to sleep and did not wake up or hear anything when the alleged robbery occurred.
Daniels’ warrants for assured clear distance and leaving the scene stem from an August accident in the parking lot of the Burger King at Broad Street and East Avenue.
According to a police report, Daniels is also accused of texting the accident victim “If you testify, I’m going to kill you,” leading to the intimidation charge.
