Elizabeth Barbara Levay

Elizabeth Barbara Levay (nee Szabo), 93, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at The Abbewood in Elyria, following a long illness. She was born October 11, 1919 in Elyria.

Elizabeth was a 1937 Elyria High School graduate, and had worked at Colson Corporation, prior to getting married. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria, St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society, and the Sonrisa Club for 63 years. Elizabeth enjoyed attending her granddaughters’ athletic events, doing crossword puzzles, going on bus trips, sewing and cooking.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Laveen (Walter) of North Ridgeville; two granddaughters, Lisa Winkle (Robb) and Stacey Crumpler (Jeff); and two nieces and three nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Andrew, whom she married June 2, 1951; her parents, Bert and Katherine Szabo; and two brothers, Bert Jr., and Alexander Szabo.

Friends may call 4 until 7 P.M., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, where St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 3:45 P.M., Thursday, prior to visitation. Closing prayers will be at 9:30 A.M. Friday, December 7, 2012, at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held 10 A.M., Friday, at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
