Dorothy Mae Gambish, 82, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Metro General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born October 2, 1930 in Amherst, graduating with the class of 1948. She was a lifetime resident of Amherst.
Dorothy worked as a secretary for the Nordson Corporation for 38 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, James M. Russell, Sr.; two step sons, James M. (Lena) Russell, Jr. of Vermilion, Philip W. Russell of Lorain; two step daughters, Bridgette Russell and Tracy (Tim) Spalich, both of Lorain; many nieces and nephews; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and her sister Rose Bilgen of Huron.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Joseph, and Walter Gambish; and her parents, Walter and Stella Gambish (nee Sterna).
Private family graveside services were held at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Michael Denk of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, officiated.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
