Nancy Patricia Altomari, 69, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria, with her family by her bedside, due to complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born October 28, 1943 in Lorain.
Nancy graduated from Lorain High School in 1961 and was a life-long resident of Lorain County. She was a registered nurse and was a 1967 graduate of the Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland. Nancy was a caring and dedicated nurse throughout her life, most recently providing health care to other senior citizens through the organization Seniors Helping Seniors. She was involved at the North Ridgeville Senior Center and she volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association. Nancy was also active with the Breath Support Group on Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Nancy was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making clothes and Halloween costumes for her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and over her lifetime she compiled an incredible cookbook of delectable recipes. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh as well. Nancy also loved to visit Monet’s painting, “Water Lilies” at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Eddy of Elyria; two sons, Daniel Eddy (Sherry) of North Ridgeville and William Eddy (fiancee, Erin Thomas) of St. Paul, Minnesota; one sister, Ginny Altomari of Elyria; one brother, Frank Altomari of Lorain; and her godson and nephew, Michael Couture of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Stella (nee Astorino) Altomari; and a brother, Ralph Altomari.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 7, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The funeral service will be Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Chuck Behrens officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
