Phyllis Mae Prokay Backus

Phyllis Mae Prokay Backus (nee Thompson), 71, of Elyria, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012. She was born November 26, 1941 in Ashland, Kentucky.

Phyllis was an avid Elvis collector, and enjoyed baking and crafts.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Bourne (Craig); two sons, John Prokay (Lisa), Kevin Backus (Jill); six grandchildren, Sherri Raleigh (Chuck), Stacy Berry (Tony), Chelsea Bourne, Craig Bourne Jr., Erika Feliciano, John Prokay II; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, James “Pete” Thompson (Donna), Minville Thompson, Jr. (Judy), Lee Thompson (Mary Lou); and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Charles T.; a son, Ricky Prokay; a grandson, Noaha Raleigh; and her parents, Minville and Arbutus Jonas (nee Riggs) Thompson.

Friends may call 4 until 7 P.M., Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria (440) 322-4626, where funeral services will be at 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery, West Salem, Ohio.
