The Cincinnati Enquirer reports 39-year-old Chad Brehm and wife Elisha Brehm have been indicted on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence. They have pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say an investigator repeatedly saw Brehm’s name and photo identification showing him in his deputy uniform while reviewing pawn shop sales slips.
They say an undercover sting found that gold a customer sold to him at the store where he worked was then sold by his wife for $5,470 to a gold-buying store in Kentucky. They link the couple to $150,000 in similar thefts. A message was left Thursday for their attorney.
