Constance Scott (nee Hitchens), formerly of Elyria, departed this life Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Jersey City, New Jersey from complications of diabetes. She was born to Clara and Floyd Hitchens in Chillicothe, Ohio and attended Oberlin City Schools.
In addition to being a devoted mother, Connie was an excellent cook who worked at Presti’s Restaurant in Oberlin for many years and as a Food Service Coordinator at the Lorain Correctional Institution.
Connie was preceded in death by both parents; and by sisters, Glenna Wall, Delores McClendon, Bernice Hitchens and Eleanor Ragland.
Ms. Scott is survived by her daughter, Angela G. Scott of New Jersey; sons, William B. Scott, Jr. and Daniel L. Scott, Sr. of Elyria; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Riddle, Marilyn Adams, Barbara Gill; and brother, Floyd Hitchens. Her passing is also mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Home-going Farewell gathering will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1 P.M. at Scott Lake Park, 11565 Leavitt Road (Rt. 58), Oberlin.
