Carolyn Thomas Brink (nee Grimley), 76 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Carolyn was born January 18, 1936 in South Amboy, New Jersey, where she was raised, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy. Amherst Township has been her home for the last 28 years.
Carolyn graduated from Lorain County Community College with an Associates Degree and was employed at the Lorain County Community College as an Administrative Associate, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, quilting and rug hooking. She was an avid reader and also liked to play word games and puzzles. Her pastime was feeding and observing the birds.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Brink, of 36 years; brother, Chris Grimley and his wife, Nell of Virginia; sons, David Thomas and his wife, Elaine of New Jersey, Ken Thomas and his wife, Tanya of Wakeman, Jimm Brink and his wife, Chris of North Carolina, Chris Brink, Sr. and his wife, Chrissy of Vermilion; daughters, Karen Thomas and her fiance, Marco Cutrone of Denville, New Jersey, Jacqui Thomas of Lorain; and grandchildren, Amanda, David, Cadence, Christopher, Jasmina, William, Alexia.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband of 15 years, George Thomas in 1973; and parents, Christopher and Anna Elizabeth Grimley (nee Peterson).
Friends may call Tuesday, December 18, 2012, from 5 until 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial will take place in Key Port, New Jersey.
