George E. Schmucker

George E. Schmucker, 68, of Avon, died Friday, December 14, 2012, at home after a long illness. He was born October 14, 1944 in Cleveland.

George served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated combat veteran and reached the rank of Sergeant. He remained a proud member of the Marine Corps League, until his passing.

George served as a Police Detective with the city of Bay Village for over 27 years. He was an avid fisherman, outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rebecca (nee Olloman) Schmucker; daughter, Jennifer; son, Christopher; granddaughter, Charlotte; and brother, Joseph.

Friends will be received Monday, December 17, 2012, from 4 until 8 P.M., at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, where closing prayers will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 9:45 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M., at St. Raphael’s Church in Bay Village .
