Robert Joseph Super

Robert Joseph Super, 86, and a resident of Carlisle Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a brief illness. He was born November 19, 1926 at home in Elyria, where he was raised.

Bob was a carpenter and in 1950 he built the home that he and his family resided in until his passing.

Bob served in the United States Army. He was the co-owner of AAA Appliance in Elyria. Bob attended Trinity Free Evangelical Church in Amherst and also Church of the Open Door in Elyria. Bob was a hard working man who knew how to relax. He was known for his great sense of humor and was a great story teller. His hobbies included traveling, camping, gardening, canning and photography. Bob was a ham radio operator, call number N8HDE. He loved to restore antique John Deere tractors. Bob enjoyed using his computer for research and for entertainment. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them to amusement parks and riding the roller coasters.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen Jane Super (nee Lingenfelter); sons, Robert Joel Super and his wife Sylvia of Greenacres, Washington, Jonathan Scott Super of Bolton, Massachusetts; daughter, Barbara Alice Smith of Elyria; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Barry Smith; his brothers, George, Clarence, James and Gerald; and four infant siblings; and by his parents, John and Anna Mary Super (neeSim).

Friends may call Friday, December 21, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Additional Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Arnold Fleagle, Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Laporte Cemetery, Carlisle Township.
