L. Gerald “Jerry” Jackson, of Westlake, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Ames Family Hospice after a three year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty; dear father of Steven of Las Vegas, Gregory (Gail) of Fort Lauderdale, and Scott (Elizabeth) of Hudson; loving grandfather of Hannah and Emily Jackson of Hudson and Kyle and Keith Jackson of Las Vegas; dear brother of Jon (Pat) of Parma Heights.
Jerry was born in Lorain, and graduated from Elyria High School and attended Miami University in Oxford. He served three years in the United States Navy and worked for Lake County National Bank and BancOhio in Columbus before coming back to Cleveland to work for Lang Fisher & Stashower/Liggett-Stashower for over 20 years. Jerry was very active in theater at Lake Erie College in Painesville and Players Theater in Columbus. He and his wife, Betty, have been active members of West Shore Unitarian Church in Rocky River for over 30 years.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at West Shore Unitarian Church, Rocky River, on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to any of the following, West Shore Unitarian Church, 20401 Hilliard Blvd., Rocky River, OH 44116; The Gathering Place, 800 Sharon Drive, Westlake, OH 44145 or Hospice of the Western Reserve/Ames Family Hospice, 30080 Hospice Way, Westlake, OH 44145, all of whom were deeply supportive and loving in these last three years.
