Harold T. “Tom” Terry

Harold T. “Tom” Terry, 88, of Elyria, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home. He was born September 2, 1924 in Elyria and was a 1942 graduate of Elyria High School.

He served with the U.S. Army in France and Central Europe during WWII and then received a bachelor degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Tom was formerly employed as office manager at Westside Lumber Company in Elyria and retired from Sears at Midway Mall.

He was a life member of Wellington V.F.W. Post # 6941 and a member of the Elyria Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid reader, especially Civil War history and also enjoyed bird watching.

Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Juanita; daughter, Jorja (Raymond) DiGeronimo of Elyria; son, Timothy (Debra) Terry of Albuquerque, New Mexico; step daughters, Connie Putnam of Amherst, LuAnn Moran and Jackie Lassen, both of Elyria; step son, Bryon Clapp of Elyria; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edna Terry; sister, Geraldine Spaulding; and step daughter, Debbie Slone.

A service for the family will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Mr. Terry’s nephew, Pastor Thomas Spaulding will officiate and Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will present military honors. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
