Thelma G. Vanover, 75, of Lorain, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Kingston of Vermilion, after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 3, 1937 in Haysi, Virginia to Virgil and Allifair (nee Stanford) Turner. She graduated from Haysi High School in 1955.
Thelma loved going to casinos, playing bingo and sitting on her front porch with friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Charles David (Suzanne) Vanover of Lorain; daughters, Regena Lynn Vanover of Wakeman and Michelle Homler of Lorain; grandchildren, Mandy Walters, Eric Walters, Ashley Nibert, Dylan Nibert and Logan Homler; three great-grandchildren; brother, Ronny Turner of Virginia; sisters, Loretta Viers of Virginia, Jane Edwards of Michigan and June Deel of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Allifair Turner; and her sister, Patricia Yates.
The Vanover family will receive friends on Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 1 to 3:30 P.M. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:30 P.M. in the funeral center. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
