Donald R. Winemiller

Donald R. Winemiller, 82, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 22, 2012 surrounded by his family at Autumn Ages Nursing Home, Lorain following a long illness. Donald was born December 2, 1930 in French Creek, West Virginia and raised in Pennsylvania. He moved to Lorain in 1953 and Amherst has been his home for the last 40 years.

Donald worked for the Ford Motor Company, Lorain in the paint department for thirty years retiring in 1989. He was involved with the Murray Ridge Support Group and volunteered for the Special Olympics, and at Lake Point Health Center, Lorain. Donald was a avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and word puzzles. He found great joy attending his grandson’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Margaret E. Winemiller (nee Etling); sons, Terry Winemiller and his wife Annette (Kay) of Lorain and Timothy Lee Winemiller of Lorain; daughter, Tracy Adkins and her husband Ronald of Wakeman; grandsons, Andrew Winemiller, serving in the United States Army and Aaron Winemiller; brothers, Robert Winemiller and his wife, Garnet of Connellsville, Pennsylvania; sisters, Geneva Drost of North Ridgeville, Virgina Barber and her husband Sam of Meadville, Pennsylvania and sister-in-law, Bernice Winemiller of Connellsville, Pennsylvania.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Winnie (nee Linger); brothers, Richard Winemiller, Luther Winemiller and Roger Winemiller.

Friends may call Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Donald’s nephew, Rev. Kevin Winemiller, Army Chaplain and Rev. Roger Loomis, from Crossroads Hospice will coofficiate. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Avon.

The family wishes to express their deepest thanks for the tender, loving, care provided Donald by Autumn Ages Nursing Home, and Crossroads Hospice.
