Elizabeth L. “Betty” Benko (nee Gray), 81, of North Ridgeville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 18, 2012. She was born in Lorain and resided in North Ridgeville the past 14 years. She previously lived in Fairview Park for 40 years.
She was a graduate of Michigan State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and taught in the Parma and Strongsville School systems for many years, until retiring in 1986. Mrs. Benko was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, North Olmsted.
Her survivors include her daughter, Nancy M. Benko of North Ridgeville; sons, Paul Benko of LaGrange, Illinois and William (Heidi) Benko of Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren, brothers, Wellsley O. Gray of Lorain, and Paul D. Gray of Amherst; and sister, Nancy McBride of Bay Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 2010; daughter, Muriel in 2009; and her parents, Wellsley and Nancy Gray.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 25200 Lorain Rd., N. Olmsted. Reverend Dr. Tom MacMillian, Pastor, will officiate. Private interment will take place in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
