Virginia Naomi Farlow (nee Dawson), 88 years of age, a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday evening, December 24, 2012, at Life Care Center of Elyria, following a lengthy illness. She was born June 16, 1924 in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, where she was raised, before coming to Lorain in 1954 where she remained the rest of her life.
Virginia’s passion in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family meant everything to her and she treasured her time spent caring for them, cooking and baking. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church in Lorain, where she participated with Meals on Wheels. During her free time, Virginia like to play bingo. Later in life she greatly enjoyed the company of her pet Bichon named Buffy.
Survivors include her sons, Fred “Terry” and his wife, Jean of Lorain; Bill and his wife, Rosanne of Amherst, Michael and his wife, Lori of Winter Garden, Florida, Jerry of Lorain, Ted of Woodstock, Georgia, Patrick of Marietta, Georgia, Joseph and his wife, Sue; daughters, Linda Young and her husband, Dennis of North Ridgeville and Debbie Reinhardt and her husband, Tom of Amherst; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fred Taylor Farlow in 1998; by son-in-law, Gerald Stanko in 2004; great grandson, Shawn Farlow 1995; parents, John William and Nellie Dawson (nee Biser); as well as 10 sisters.
Friends may call Friday, December 28, 2012, from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. James Madsen, Pastor of First Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
