William A. “Bill” Taylor, 85, of Lorain, left this world to begin his new life in the next on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. He was born March 15, 1927 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, and had resided in the Lorain area most of his life.
Bill served with the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and retired from the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant, after 20 years. He worked for the Lorain Electronics Corporation as a manager and CEO and at ITT Macky Great Lakes Marine Division in Elyria as a manager of the river system before retiring in 1994.
Bill enjoyed gourmet cooking, reading, watching sports, electronics, and designing marine equipment.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Andrea L. Taylor (nee Babinsky); sons, Andrew W. of Lorain and Allen C. of Annecy, France; brother, John P. Taylor (Marilyn nee Rufo) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas P. and Rose Taylor (nee Lang); brother, Thomas P. “Bud” Taylor; and sisters, Louis Anschutz and Beverly Pandy.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A memorial Mass will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Fort Myer, Virginia.
