George W. Hagler, 81, of Elyria, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 23, 2012, in the Wesleyan Village nursing home, following a long illness. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, coming to Elyria 50 years ago from Belton, South Carolina.
Mr. Hagler was employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital in the laundry department for many years. He also worked at the Elyria Foundry. He was a member of Elyria Church of The Nazarene in Elyria and a member of AA for 41 years. He was an avid fisher, and enjoyed woodworking, and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Verna D. Hagler; daughters, Clara Mills, Joyce Oliver, Priscilla Hagler, Germaine Graham; son, Wendell Hagler all of Elyria; 16 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Hagler; and sisters, Ruby Hagler and Elouise Hagler.
Friends may call Saturday, December 29, 2012, from 10 A.M., until time of service at 11 A.M., at the Elyria Church of The Nazarene, 1107 Clemens Ave., Elyria. Reverend George Gribben will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon.
