Friday, Dec. 28
6:21 p.m. —1200 block Lake Ave., store employee said he showed up a couple hours late for work and a fellow employee became angry at him and assaulted him. Police said the other employee was gone when they arrived.
6:53 p.m. — Sears, 4900 Midway Mall Blvd., store security guards said a man they tried to detain for shoplifting pants assaulted one of the guards and fled the store.
Saturday, Dec. 29
12:30 a.m. — 600 block Second St., Sherri Briant, 33, 1900 block Middle Ave., Elyria, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said they responded to a domestic dispute involving Briant and her boyfriend, and she repeatedly screamed profanities, despite being warned to quiet down and refused to leave her boyfriend’s home.
12:50 a.m. —1300 block Middle Ave., resident said she left her home through an unlocked back door around 11 p.m. and returned around midnight to find the door open. A $500 computer, a $100 camcorder and a $500 television were stolen.
5:45 p.m. — 200 block Washington Ave., resident said he was waiting for friends in the apartment complex vestibule when a man he knows only as Lee threw him outside and beat him for several minutes. Police said they were unable to locate the suspect.
Sunday, Dec. 30
12:50 a.m. — 200 block Fourth St., Julia Ortiz, 34, 100 block Mendel Court, arrested and charged with drunken driving, child endangerment, failure to control, driving with a suspended license and a safety belt violation. Police said Ortiz struck a pole while driving in a van with her two children who were not wearing seat belts in the back seat. Police said Ortiz smelled of alcohol, failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test.
Friday, Dec. 28
1:46 p.m. — 900 block W. 21st. St., Henry Cardona, 58, same address, arrested and charged with violation of a protection order. Police said they found Cardona on the porch of the home of a woman who has a protection order against him. The woman said she and Cardona have been mutually violating the protection order for months and didn’t want him arrested. Cardona said he had bought groceries for the woman and became worried that she was ill when she didn’t answer the door.
3:58 p.m. — Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, 1130 Tower Blvd., an administrator at the home asked to file a report about a woman he fired for allegedly stealing $7,014 in petty cash.
9:47 p.m. — Pole Avenue and West 22nd Street, Dameon Robertson, 1000 block W. 22nd St., Lorain, arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prescription pills, illegal conveyance of drugs and a stop sign violation. Police said they stopped Robertson for a stop sign violation and that he had two Percocet pills and an ounce of marijuana on him. They said Robertson lied about having all the marijuana taken from him and he carried a small amount in his underwear into the Lorain County Jail while being booked.
11:37 p.m. — Marshall Apartments, 2510 Marshall Ave., Alex Delgado, 20, same address, arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Police said they responded to a call of shots fired at the apartment complex and questioned Delgado about a loud party at his apartment. They said Delgado refused to identify himself and scuffled with officers when they tried to handcuff him. They said they later learned Amherst police had a warrant for Delgado.
Saturday, Dec. 29
11:46 a.m. — 100 block E. Erie Ave., resident said she left her car parked in the apartment complex parking lot overnight and in the morning found the rear window smashed.
2:29 p.m. — EMH Medical Center, 603 E. River Road, Elyria, Derrick Hudson, 40, 3600 block Gary Ave., Lorain, charged with domestic violence but not arrested. A woman who has a 10-month-old son with Hudson said she went to Hudson’s residence and questioned him about how he got some Christmas gifts at the home. She said Hudson became angry and repeatedly punched her in the face and body and shoved her against a wall. The woman said Hudson later pulled out a pistol and talked about murdering her and committing suicide, but she talked him out of it and said she would make up a story about how she was injured when she went to the hospital. Police said Hudson wasn’t there when they went to his home.
3:41 p.m. — Dye’s Appliance, 960 Broadway, owner said a $200 refrigerator and $25 washing machine frame were stolen from delivery area outside the store. Surveillance video shows a white man, about 5’ 10”, with a medium build and wearing a brown coat, baseball cap and dark pants drive off with the refrigerator in a white 1980s model Chevrolet pickup with a wooden bed.
9:01 p.m. — West 25th Street and Reid Avenue, John Fonseca, 55, homeless, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct by intoxication. Police said they found Fonseca drunk and lying in the street. They said he registered a 0.248 in a portable breath test.
