Theodore O. Gasser, 87 years old of Elyria, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Hospice of Medina County, Medina, following a short illness. Mr. Gasser was born in Grafton, on April 6, 1925 and lived in Lorain County all his life.
He was a graduate of Elyria High School. He was employed as a supervisor for Fruehauf Company in Elyria for 37 years, where he retired in 1985. Mr. Gasser was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in World War II, where he received the American Theater-Astatic-Pacific ribbon (four Stars) and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with two stars. Mr. Gasser also was a life member of the VFW Post 1079, Elyria Moose Club and the United Polish Club.
He is survived by two sons, Theodore R. Gasser of Elyria and Terrence (Ann) Gasser of Medina; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla R. Gasser (nee Horvath) in 2008; one grandson, Terrence Owen Gasser, Jr. in 2006; parents, Ralph R. and Rosella (nee Smith) Gasser; and one brother, Jerry M. Gasser.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 4 until 7 P.M. Private family services will be in the funeral home on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10 A.M., with the Reverend Father John Vrana, Associate Pastor of St. Jude Church, officiating. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079.
