Danne “Dan” Marks Butler, 70, lost his battle with cancer Saturday, December 29, 2012. Born in Wooster March 16, 1942, he had been a resident in the Elyria area since 1978. Danne was a 1960 graduate of Northwestern High School and served in the United States Army.
He was employed by Prudential and several manufacturing companies in the Wooster area before moving to Elyria and overseeing the construction and operation of Cleveland Plastic Films. In 1980, Mr. Butler founded Creative Packaging Concepts, a plastic bag manufacturer in Elyria, and ran the company until his retirement in 2002. His interests included fishing, golf and watching television.
Dan is survived by his children, Daniel of North Ridgeville, Sydney of Avon, Jeffery of Willoughby and Shannon (Ron) Young of LaGrange; grandchildren, Ashley, Tara and Jesse Butler, Brittany, Jordan, Tyler and Pierce Young; brothers, Duane (Judy) and Gary (Linda), both of Wooster; and his former spouse and friend, Connie Butler of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell M. in 1994 and his mother Dorothy M. (nee Chance) in 2004.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from 12 until 2 P.M. and 6 until 8 P.M., at the Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Elyria. The funeral service will be at Noon, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Wyers Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Chuck Keesee, Pastor of Midway Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial, with military rites performed by Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 20 of Lorain, will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
