Caterina Gentile (nee Cristofaro), 72, of Elyria passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at The Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness. She was born February 1, 1940 in Davoli, Italy.
Caterina was a self employed seamstress; she was dedicated to her husband and children and was kind and generous to all who knew her.
Survivors include two daughters, Eleanora Gentile (Giovanni) of Italy, Cristina Yersavich (Joseph) of Columbus. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Vittorio, Marco, Samuel, and Erin; two sisters, Teresa Corapi of Baltimore, MD, Vittoria Cristofaro of Italy; two brothers, Vincenzo Cristofaro of Italy, Dominic Cristofaro of Baltimore, Maryland.
Caterina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years; Salvatore; her parents, Vittorio and Angela (nee Gualtieri) Cristofaro; and a brother, Luciano Cristofaro.
Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440) 322-4626 where funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2013. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, Pastor of St. Mary Church will officiate. Entombment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Caterina’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
