Julia Marie Carter, 84, of Lorain, died Monday, December 31, 2012, in Autumn Aegis Nursing Center while under the care of New Life Hospice. She was born December 21, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio and resided in the Lorain area since 1953, moving from Kentucky.
Mrs. Carter belonged to Broadway Assembly Church, and enjoyed quilting and gardening.
She is survived by sons Edgar Carter Jr. of Elyria, Richard Carter of Lorain, Westley Dalton (Elbert Carter) of Vermilion, and David Carter of Lorain; a daughter, Edith Goble of Lorain; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Luther McFarland of Troy, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar in 1987; a son, Lawrence Nance in 2009; grandsons, Dustin, and Christopher Nicholas Carter; a granddaughter, Heather Goble; sisters, Lula Mae Smith and Doris Hensley; parents, Edward and Mammie McFarland; and her devoted companion of many years, Elmer Fechtner.
Friends may call Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain, where funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
