Betty Joyce Fryson (nee Kendricks), 66, departed this life Monday, December 31, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Mobile, Alabama May 6, 1946, to the late Reverend Clinton W. and Emma L. (Bogin) Kendricks and came to live in Lorain, in 1947.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Lorain, under the shepherding of her father. Later in life she united with the New Hope Baptist Church, Lorain, where she sang in the choir, was secretary for the Sunday School, and taught Sunday School classes. Betty graduated from Clearview High School in 1964, and received an associate’s degree from Lorain County Community College in 1966. She retired from the Oak Hill Nursing Home after working over 30 years as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed current events, especially political news, and watching old movies and sitcoms on the television. She also spent many hours each day at her first love, reading the bible.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Clinton W. Kendricks of Lorain, Walter J. Kendricks of Seattle Washington, and John R. Kendricks of Lorain; a niece; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend C.W. Kendricks in 1986, and Emma L. Kendricks in 2005.
Friends may call Monday, January 7, 2013, from 11 A.M., until time of service at Noon, at New Hope Baptist Church, 2512 E. 28th St., Lorain, OH 44055, with Pastor Robert T. Marbury officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
