Mary Rose Chappo

Mary Rose Chappo (nee Salata), 89 years old, of Elyria, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at her home, following a long illness. Mrs. Chappo was born May 15, 1923 in Berryburg, West Virginia, and lived in Elyria all her life.

She was a graduate of Elyria High School, class of 1941 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria; the Martha Guild at church and worked at various church functions though out the years; a member of the Elyria YWCA and an active volunteer of the Lake Shore Railway Association.

She is survived by her two sons; Mike (Debby) Chappo and Marc Chappo, both of Elyria; one granddaughter, Allison Chappo and two grandsons, Christopher and Mark Chappo; and one great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Chappo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Chappo in 1975; two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Salata; and five sisters, Bertha Salata, Violet Polchey, Elizabeth Moore, Helen Kayden and Emma Hovis.

Friends may call at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Sunday, January 6, 2013, from 4 until 6 P.M. Funeral services will be Monday, January 7, 2013, at 10 A.M., in the funeral home, with the Reverend Alana Kelley, Pastor of Maygar United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.
