James L. Marcum, 75 years old, of Elyria, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a short illness. Mr. Marcum was born August 16, 1937 in Trosper, Kentucky, and lived in Elyria most of his life.
He was employed at U.S. Steel Plant for five years and the City of Elyria Public Utilities Water Department for 31 years. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes, peppers and green beans.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia C. (nee Cathey) Marcum; two daughters, Alberta Marcum and Carolyn Sue (Brian) Vezina, both of Elyria; and two sons, James (Rita) of Wellington, and Allen (Melissa) Marcum of Lorain; six grandsons; and two granddaughters; and one brother, Hubert G. Marcum of Vermilion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Bertha (nee Williams) Marcum; one sister, Beatrice Lattimore; and three brothers, Martin W. Marcum, Ambers Marcum and Jason N. Marcum.
Friends may call at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 10, 2013, 11 A.M., at the Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Road, Elyria, with the Reverend Charles Keesee, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
