John R. “Sonny” Miller, 79, of Lorain, died Saturday January 5, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, after a lengthy illness. He was born December 17, 1933 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Sonny owned and operated Miller Plumbing in Lorain for over 37 years. Later he worked as a Bailiff for Judge V. Paul Timko in Lorain Municipal Court and for Judge Mark Betleski in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, before retiring.
Sonny was heavily involved in the Lorain County Democratic Party. He enjoyed playing cards and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Miller (Moh Kussem) of Louisville, Kentucky, Denise M. Kosakowski (John), John C. Miller and Todd Miller (Yesi), all of Lorain; grandchildren, Rochelle Bennett, Anthony Belinsky, Jonathan Kosakowski, Johnny Miller, Jared Miller, Colin Miller and Skylar Miller; three great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou Mesler of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine A. “Cookie” Miller on February 7, 2010; and parents, John and Margaret Molnar (nee Pachuta).
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 4 until 8 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 9:30 A.M., in the funeral chapel, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
