Ruth M. Kovarik (nee McCafferty), 84, of Lorain, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at EMH Healthcare, in Elyria. She was born April 24, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey and had moved to Lorain in 1951. She was a resident of the Abbewood in Elyria for the past four years.
Ruth graduated from West Side High School in Newark in 1946. She worked in Newark for three years. When she moved to Lorain, she worked at the Lorain Telephone Company and Centel for 20 years as an operator and customer service representative retiring in 1989.
She is survived by her children, Robert J. “Pogie” Pogorelc (Jan – nee Rybarczyk) of Amherst, Thomas A. Pogorelc (Phillis) of Lorain, Michael A. Pogorelc (Cheryl) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Karen M. Antus (Daniel) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Chriss, James, Matthew, Deanna and Benjamin Pogorelc, Theresa Rahall, Michelle and Joseph Antus, Ashlie Buzzard and Adam Oswalt and; three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Kovarik on October 23, 2000; parents, Thomas H. and Carrie Mae McCafferty (nee Fagan); and sister, Dorothy M. Alves.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Rd., Amherst. Tony Ceja will officiate.
