Robert L. Skidmore, 73, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a long illness. He was born October 5, 1939, in Gasaway, West Virginia, and was a Lorain resident for most of his life.
Bob worked in assembly at the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, retiring after 28 years. Following his retirement from Ford, he worked at Drug Mart in Lorain. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and was an avid Hot Wheels car collector.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Santina “Santa” (nee Curcillo); daughter, Sue (Jim) Stephenson of Elyria; grandchildren, Jordan, Derrick and Tyler Stephenson; sisters, Barbara McCullough, Joanne Skidmore and Cathy McCullough, all of West Virginia; and brothers, Walter Skidmore of Elyria and Richard Skidmore of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Skidmore.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 14, 2013, from 4 P.M., until the time of services at 7 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Reverend Dennis Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 10 A.M., at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
