3:11 a.m. — 400 block E. Broad St., a man told police he heard noises and feared his car was being broken into. When officers arrived, they discovered someone had broken the front windshield with a garbage can found lying next to the man’s home.
2 p.m. —100 block Pratt Boulevard, a woman told police she was away from her Wilkes Villa residence for six hours before returning to discover two 36-inch TVs, two video game systems, video games, movie rentals and an unknown amount of cash missing.
Friday, Jan. 11
10:41 a.m. —100 Cleveland St., Randall Perkins, 43, of Elyria, was charged with theft after a sheriff’s deputy found the man a short distance from Walgreens, where police said a man matching Perkins’ description walked out without paying for an 18-pack of beer.
3:30 p.m. — 1000 Chestnut Commons Drive, security personnel at Walmart told police a suspect stole a 50-inch flat screen TV about 9 a.m. only to return and take a second one at 1 p.m. The TVs were valued at $1,196. A store employee told police he knew the thief, who he recognized from surveillance video.
