Amherst police seek robber after gas station holdup

The Pure gas station in Amherst was robbed by a man with a knife Monday, according to police.

According to Lt. Dan Jasinski, police received a call from the clerk of the store, 1999 Cooper Foster Park Road, at 7:40 p.m. Monday. The clerk said a man entered the store with a mask on and displaying a knife.

The man told the clerk “You know the routine,” according to a news release from Amherst police.

The clerk opened the register, and the man took the cash out and put it in his pocket, the news release said.

The clerk saw the man run across the street and get in to a waiting vehicle, which was described as “the size and shape of a Ford Escape.” He made off with approximately $400, the news release said.

The robber is described as a white male, 24 to 30 years old, about 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, gloves and a black face mask.

Police have no suspects at this time.
