Irene Mae Simon (nee Rigaux), 92, of Penfield Township, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Keystone Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in LaGrange. She was born May 21, 1920 in Akron, and lived most of her life in Penfield Township.
She was formerly employed finishing cards at the Oberlin office of American Greetings Inc. Irene was a former member of St. Mary Church in Elyria and St. Patrick Church in Wellington. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doll making, playing Yahtzee. She was also an admirer of the novel and movie Gone with the Wind and an Elvis Presley fan.
Irene is survived by a son, David J. Simon of Grafton; daughter, Maryann Clement of Oberlin; brother, George Rigaux of Massillon; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Simon, in 1966; parents, Alexander and Minnie Rigaux and sister, Alice Viering.
Friends will be received Friday, January 18, 2013 from 10 A.M. until the time of an 11:15 A.M. prayer service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, with Reverend Charles T. Diedrick officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
