Jack E. Romans

Jack E. Romans, 87, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Mercy Regional Hospital in Lorain. He was born January 1, 1926 in Williamson, West Virginia.

Jack served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He earned a Master’s degree in Education from Marshall University, and was a retired teacher and assistant principal with the Elyria Schools. Jack was a member of V.F.W. Post 1079, Amvets, and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, and travel.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Erda Romans; his children, John L. Romans, Wade E. Romans, Steven V. Romans, Jacqlyn Whisenhunt and Melvin O. Romans. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rushia Romans; and two sisters.

Friends may call 1 until 4 P.M., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440)322-4626, where funeral services will be at 10 A.M., Monday, January 21, 2013. Reverend Don Whitecar, Associate Pastor of Southwest Baptist Church in Brunswick, will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, where V.F.W. Post 1079 will provide full military honors.
