Lorain police

Saturday, Jan. 12

5:31 p.m. — 700 block Georgia Ave., Cody Potts, 19, same address, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Police said Potts assaulted his half-sister during an argument. Potts’s mother said Potts became angry after his sister said her father was a better father than him. Potts then reportedly threw a notebook at the girl and kicked and punched her several times.

Monday, Jan. 14

11:49 p.m. — 3000 block Reid Ave., Matthew Mason, 43, 900 block W. 14th St., arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a citation for excessive noise from exhaust. Police searched Mason’s vehicle after he admitted to smoking marijuana before the traffic stop. Officers found a pipe containing cocaine residue. Mason admitted to smoking crack but denied the pipe was his. A passenger, who had been recently released from jail for drug trafficking, also denied owning the pipe.

1:59 p.m. — 1900 block E. 29th St., Ivan Barrios, 34, same address, charged with felonious assault, but not arrested. Barrios’ girlfriend, whom police said was bleeding profusely from the head, said Barrios stopped her from leaving his home. She said she threw some picture frames hanging on the wall on the floor and he struck her on the back of the head with one of the frames. Police said Monday night they were searching for Barrios.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

3:30 p.m. — 100 block W. Erie Ave., an officer received a call from a family member of a Lorain man, who said she was told the Lorain man was in danger of being killed after an arrangement made by his ex-girlfriend. The family said the ex-girlfriend was a stripper at Christie’s Cabaret, and they were told she was going to arrange for the man to be killed in what would look like a robbery attempt. Police were unable to locate the man or any information on where he was staying or worked.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

8:55 a.m. — West 25th Street and Reid Avenue, Rigo Rios, 22, 2500 block Reid Ave., Lorain, arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and persistent disorderly conduct. Rios continually screamed at his partner during a quarrel and returned to the scene after being told by police officers to leave, police said.

Thursday, Jan. 17

2:43 a.m. — 4600 block Riverside Drive, Miles Davis, 30, same address, charged with domestic violence, but not arrested. Davis’ ex-girlfriend, who is four months pregnant, said he let himself into her home with keys he wouldn’t give back after he moved out two weeks ago. She said she was sleeping in bed when he came in and choked her, punched her in the face and threw a candle at her, breaking a mirror over the bed. She said he took some belongings and drove away.

Monday, Jan. 14

12:00 p.m. — 200 block Roosevelt Ave., a woman returned home to find the window in the rear door of her home broken. Another window in the rear of her house also appeared to have been tampered with. Police were able to lift fingerprints from the window and door, and the woman was advised to contact the Elyria Police Department should she discover anything missing.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

11:20 a.m. — 900 block Griswold Road, 52 bags of shingles stolen from a building materials distribution company between 4 p.m. Jan. 8 and 3 p.m. Jan. 9.

12:45 p.m. — 600 block Logan St., Joshua Meyer and Matthew White, both 18, same address, arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, possessing criminal tools and possessing drug paraphernalia. White also was charged with possession of other controlled substances. The men were in a parked car in which 80 grams of concealed marijuana and two digital scales with marijuana residue were found. White had a plastic bag of marijuana between his legs as well as $283 and baggies of prescription pills in his pockets. White stated he did not have a job other than selling marijuana.

4:00 p.m. — 100 block David Drive, a man reported a mysterious parked car in his lot to officers responding to another call in the area. The car, the man said, had been in the lot for a month with the keys in its ignition. After some investigation, police determined that the car was stolen and properly belonged to a resident of Sheffield. Two checkbooks were recovered from the car before officers had it towed away.

Thursday, Jan. 10

10 a.m. — Lorain National Bank, 546 N. Center St., complaint of a broken-down vehicle parked in parking lot.

Saturday, Jan. 12

1:56 p.m. — 500 block Appomattox Court, complained of a sick cat in back yard.

Monday, Jan. 14

7:14 p.m. — 100 block Loperwood Lane, resident complained that a neighbor screamed and threatened to harm him.

9:26 p.m. — 300 block Church St., Brandon Sherrill, 19, of Berlin Heights, charged with domestic violence.

Grafton police

Wednesday, Jan. 9

1:08 p.m. — Parsons Road, owner of Royal Oaks Golf Course reported that there was a vehicle parked at the golf course that was not permitted to be there. Officers arrived and did not locate a vehicle but saw tracks in the snow. Extra patrol was requested.

Friday, Jan. 11

6:53 a.m. — 1000 block Plymouth Drive, caller heard screaming from a nearby house. Officers arrived and learned that the juvenile did not want to go to school and the grandma was forcing her to go.

Saturday, Jan. 12

7:29 p.m. — Railroad tracks, report of people walking on the tracks.

10:03 p.m. — 500 block N. Main St., caller advising of a possible intoxicated driver on the road.

Sunday, Jan. 13

3:23 p.m. — Main Street, theft of alcoholic beverages from establishment.

Monday, Jan. 14

11:01 a.m. — Parsons Road, a man called to inform police officers that he was going to be building “squirrel homes by the river.”

2:52 p.m. — Main Street, Grafton Post Office, report of two small children in car seats screaming. The mother was walking out of the post office when the officer pulled up to the vehicle. The children were no longer screaming and crying, but the mother was strongly advised against keeping her young children in the car unattended. She stated she would never do it again.

9:45 p.m. — 1000 block Wellfleet Drive, vehicle racing up and down the street.
