Clifford George Toghill, 84, of Grafton, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness. He was born in Grafton on June 12, 1928 to Ernest “Ernie” and Stella Toghill.
He was a Grafton High School graduate and a life long resident of Grafton. Clifford was a skilled carpenter and craftsman and built numerous homes over his 50+ year career. He founded, owned and operated Toghill Construction Company and later worked for Forthofer & Sons Builders. He enjoyed fishing, gardening an spending time with his family and friends. Clifford was an avid golfer and had been a member and teammate of many golf leagues during his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol R. Toghill (Fye); sister, Laverne Newell of Elyria; sons, Jeff (Lynn) Toghill of Sharon Center, James Toghill of Elyria; daughter, Peggy (Kevin) Brown of Monroe, Georgia; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Adelbert.
Friends may call in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 3 P.M., until time of services at 5 P.M., with Reverend Delaine McGhee, Pastor of the Grafton United Methodist Church, officiating.
