Victoria V. Marsico (nee Bogdan), 96, of Lorain, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 10, 1916 in Lorain, and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Victoria was a graduate of the Lorain High School 1934 B class, and attended Wayne State University, in Michigan. Victoria worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, as the Personnel Director for many years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Ladies Guild and Auxiliary, St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, and Elyria Country Club. For many years, she did private missionary work in the Lorain area. Victoria was devoted to her family, and loved working in her garden.
She is survived by her children, Victoria (Roger) Thoma of Westlake, Jean (Michael) Tony of Lorain, Leonard (Mary Ann) Marsico of Apple Valley, California, Henry Marsico of Elyria and Daniel (Jayne) Marsico of Downer’s Grove, Illinois; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Virginia “Jean” Robertson and; brother, Dan Bogdan, both of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry C. Marsico in 2004; grandson, Joseph Daniel Marsico; and parents, Dumitru and Paraschiva Bogdan (nee Boeriu).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 11 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St. Lorain. The Rev. Robert Glepko, Pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
