Doris Marotta (nee Mitchell), 81, passed away January 26, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. Doris was born in Lorain, on January 16, 1932 to her loving parents, Charles and Irene (nee Buckley) Mitchell.
She graduated from Clearview High School, Class of 1950 and married her beloved husband, Angelo Marotta on January 9, 1954.
Doris served as a teacher’s Aide for 32 years in the Clearview Local School District and was assistant clerk for Sheffield Township for 20 years. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, Knights of Columbus and Oberlin Golf Club, where she proudly won the Dr. Ray Romero Golf Outing. Doris enjoyed golfing and aerobic swimming.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Angelo Marotta of Amherst; children, Michael (Norma) Marotta, Angela (Patrick) Riley and Dean (Shari) Marotta; grandchildren, David and Yemoja Marotta, Joseph, John and Erin Riley, and Max and Cassandra Marotta; and great-grandson, Jonah Marotta.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Charlotte Horton, Joyce Caruso; and brothers, Jack and Michael Mitchell.
The family will receive friends at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. and Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 9 A.M. until the time of A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at the church, with Rev. Donald H. Dunson, PhD, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
