Opal Irene Elkins

Opal Irene Elkins, 74, of Amherst, went to be in the arms of an angel, Friday, January 25, 2013, following a lengthy illness. She was born August 4, 1938 in Lumberport, West Virginia.

Opal was a bar maid and worked at several Lorain bars, she retired from the Brookpark Ford Plant and was a member of UAW Local 1250. She was a devoted member of the Haven Church in Lorain and enjoyed reading her Bible. Opal enjoyed cooking and especially good conversation with family and friends while sharing a cup of coffee.

Opal is survived by her children, Rebecca Stottlemire of Lorain, Paul (Cindy) Elkins of Lorain, Sheila Kelley of Amherst, Brandy (Brian Shaw) Elkins of Lorain; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Opal was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Harbert; father, James Webb; brother, Harold Harbert; sisters, Madelyn McIntyre, Mary Ann King; a foster sister, Judy Webb and foster brother, Jackie Webb.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 P.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Brother D.J. Murray of the Haven Church will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
