Avon police find no basis for allegation 2-year-old was touched inappropriately at YMCA

AVON — Police have closed out their investigation into an alleged case involving a 2-year-old girl who was reportedly touched in an inappropriate manner at the French Creek YMCA.

According to a statement released this morning by police, the probe concluded there was no basis for the allegation or any evidence of abuse or improper behavior occurring at the YMCA “or any other location.”

The statement by police said officers interviewed the child as well as her family and employees of the YMCA who were working in the Child Watch area of the facility at the time of the alleged incident.

The investigation also included interviews of other parents and Y members “who may have been present at the time the incident was alleged to have occurred,” the statement said.

Police said they reviewed medical reports and safety procedures, as well as more than 20 hours of video.

The investigation was launched by police after a family member came to police saying the child had made statements about allegedly being touched while at the YMCA.

Avon Police Chief Richard Bosley was unavailable for comment.
