Driver escapes after car slides into pond

AVON — A woman made it out of her car early Sunday after it slid off the road and began to sink in a pond.

According to Avon police, a woman called police about 12:40 a.m. Sunday on Chester Road to notify them that the car she was driving slid off the road and was stuck in a pond.

The woman was able to get out of her car and walked to nearby Birch Street where she knocked on the door of a resident and requested help.

Avon police located the woman on Birch Street and drove her to her house in Avon Lake.

There were no injuries.

The vehicle was eventually hauled away by using a flatbed and tow truck.
