Carmel B. “J.R.” Newman, Jr., 53, of Sheffield Village, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his residence, under the care of Stein Hospice, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lorain on December 1, 1959 and had been a lifelong resident of Lorain County.
J.R. was a graduate of Clearview High School and LCJVS, and had been employed as a Crane Operator at U.S. Steel. He enjoyed collecting clocks, working on cars, and was an avid Cleveland Sports fan.
Survivors include his children, Chad Newman of Parma, and Kimberly Newman of Sandusky; grandchildren, Annica, Garrett, Alivia and Bradley; parents, Carmel and Shelby (nee Chaffin) Newman; sister, Sharon (Bill) Newsome of Pikeville Kentucky; brothers, Michael (Deanne) Newman of South Amherst, and Nathan (Heather) Newman of Henderson Nevada; and his two companion dogs, Peaches and Scooter.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Newman in 2012; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township, where service will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
