Gary A. Jungeberg, Sr., 58, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria unexpectedly, after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born March 29, 1954 in Oberlin. Gary lived most of his life in Elyria.
He was employed at Steve Barry Oldsmobile and Cadillac in Elyria for many years as a car detailer before retiring in 2002. Gary enjoyed restoring automobiles and trucks, especially his Chevrolet Nova and his 1963 GMC pick up truck. His hobbies included golfing and he enjoyed trips with his wife to the casinos. Gary loved spending time with his friends and family, and was well loved by those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Ellen Jungeberg (nee Crawford); his son, Gary A. “Buddy” Jungeberg, Jr. and Megan Goerz of Cuyahoga Falls; his brothers and their wives, William and Robin Jungeberg of Wellington, Larry and Nola Jungeberg of Elyria; his sisters, Barb Weekley and her husband, Jack , Judy Gornek and her husband, Terry, both of Elyria, and Debbie Prell of Medina; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell; and his parents, Walter and Betty Jungeberg (nee Wheeler).
Friends may call Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 4 until 7 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013, at 11 A.M., at the funeral home. The Reverend Robert Andrews, Associate Pastor of Christ Church Westshore, in Bay Village, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
