James W. Azok, 83, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born January 4, 1930 in Lorain. James was a lifetime resident of Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in 1948.
James proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern theater. He was employed as a recorder at U.S. Steel in Lorain for 38 years, before retiring in 1986. In his younger years, James played with the local sand lot baseball and softball teams and was an all around avid sports fan.
Survivors include his sister, Gloria Porostosky of Lorain; brother and his wife, Franklin and Lenore Azok of Amherst; as well as his nephews, Jonathan Azok of Amherst, Franklin E. (Stacey) Azok, Clifton (Galina) Azok; and his nieces, Vicky Glick, Suzannne Woods, Lenore J. (Frank) Yuhasz; as well as great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ann Azok (nee Wargo).
Services were held privately by the family.
