Robert A. O’Neal Sr., 64, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria, following a long illness. He was born March 25, 1948 in Carolina, West Virginia. Mr. O’Neal had been a resident of Lorain County for many years.
He was employed by the Ford Motor Company at both the Lorain and Avon Lake plants for over 30 years and retired in 2008. He enjoyed boxing and was a former Golden Glove Boxing Champion. Mr. O’Neal also had a great passion for motorcycles.
He is survived by three daughters, Kim Henry of Norcross, Georgia, S. Rochele O’Neal Sampson of Dunwoody, Georgia and Shay Monique O’Neal of Norcross, Georgia; one son, Robert A. O’Neal, Jr. (Jill) of Elyria; seven grandchildren, Raina, Tre, Rakia, Tai, Devany, Erionna and Hailey; one great-grandson, Mechki; four sisters, Barbara Flewellyn, Christie Biggs, Mary Ann Fout and Josephine Flagelle; and three brothers, O’Bryant O’Neal, Kenneth O’Neal and Thomas O’Neal.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joshua O’Neal; his mother, Reola O’Neal-Echols (nee Dixon); his step-mother, Betty O’Neal; one sister, Rowena O’Neal; and four brothers, John “Junior” Williams, Jr., Leonard, Keith and Christopher O’Neal.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 13, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, in Elyria.
